Jacksonville Main Street is pleased to announce the release of its long-awaited Downtown Jacksonville Then & Now book! What started as an idea from 2018 Design Committee Chair Carol Carl and took many hours of committee volunteer labor and research was brought to fruition by the 2022 committee members, led by Nick Little.

This $30 publication is a hard-cover pictorial review of how downtown Jacksonville has changed over the years and the first book of this kind. Printed locally, its 88 pages are filled with hundreds of rarely seen historical pictures dating as far back as the 1870s and new full color photos that compare the modifications providing visual reminders of stores, structures, and styles through the ages.

 

This $30 publication is a hard-cover pictorial review of how downtown Jacksonville has changed over the years and the first book of this kind.

 

Downtown Jacksonville Then & Now provides a complete pictorial story of downtown, leading the viewer throughout the Jacksonville Main Street District before, during, and after Urban Renewal to see how the historic central business district has transformed into the place that we all know and love today.
